While success in business is a source of pride for TOWN Residential, the heart of the organization lies in giving back to the community. Representatives, managers and company-wide initiatives throughout the year assist TOWN in bettering neighborhoods around Manhattan and, in some cases, far reaches of the globe. Even as New Yorkers prepare their homes for the Holiday Season, TOWNies are focusing on charitable ways to benefit others.
Andrew Heiberger, Founder of TOWN, received a heartfelt letter from his daughter detailing her desire to help the four million Filipinos displaced by Typhoon Haiyan.
“Hi, Daddy,” she wrote. “It’s Nikki. I’ve been watching the news and I’m very upset about the typhoon that hit the Philippines and I was wondering if you and your company and friends can donate.”
TOWN has taken action and teamed up with the American Red Cross to raise money in support. So far, TOWN has raised nearly $3,000 in four days.
Earlier this month, TOWN participated in Back on My Feet’s National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness week. Back on My Feet strives to help the homeless change the way they see themselves and make real lifestyle changes resulting in employment and independent living. TOWN hosted a fundraiser, spearheaded by Rosana Vidal, Representative Marketing Manager, to propel these efforts forward. In exchange for donating $5 or more to the cause, TOWN representatives and staff wore sneakers to work for the day, raising more than $1,800 in the name of the charity.
Ari LeFauve and Lyon Porter, the Sales and Leasing Managers of TOWN Greenwich Village and TOWN SoHo, recently spent a cold November night out on the streets of Manhattan near the mouth of the Lincoln Tunnel in the name of homelessness among youths in New York City. The Sleep Out was hosted by Covenant House. Ari and Lyon’s team of six raised over $30,000 for the Covenant House to go directly to the cause.
"It's truly moving to see how the Covenant House is transforming the lives of homeless youth on a daily basis,” Porter said. “We were humbled by the experience and thankful that Matt Schmeelk included us on his team.”
Michelle Bourgeois and Judi Lederer, both Representatives at TOWN Flatiron, coordinated a TOWN sponsorship of a kick-off event for Dignity U Wear, a charity that positively impacts the lives of children, families and Veterans by providing brand new clothing for a brand new life. The event, held at 163 East 64th Street, Michelle and Judi’s exclusive Upper East Side townhome listing, kicked off Suits for Soldiers, a program coordinated by Brooks Brothers that provides suits to war veterans who are transitioning from life in combat to life outside combat.
Kristin Thomas, Sales Director of TOWN West Village, recently joined the Fountain Gallery’s Junior Committee for their Annual Art Auction and Benefit supporting the Fountain Gallery, raising over $500,000. The Fountain Gallery was founded in 2000 by Fountain House, a world class art gallery that features art of Fountain House’s members, which promotes health and well-being, and professional opportunities among men and women with mental illness.
In 2014, TOWN has plans to collaborate with Graham Windham, an organization dedicated to ensuring that every child within the foster community has a strong, loving family and the opportunity to succeed in school and life. Fortuitously, this organization shares space at 33 Irving Place, where TOWN’s new Gramercy and corporate offices are located, and a partnership has formed.
TOWN Residential’s commitment to the hyper-local neighborhoods of Manhattan is only furthered by its desire to better serve the residents in them, and the residents of the world at large.
