3. Response Time 

While the DMV recommends keeping two car lengths between your car and the one in front of you, many drivers tend to neglect this advice. However, by slowing down and keeping extra distance between you and the car in front of you, you are providing yourself with additional reaction time to prepare for or avoid driving over potholes.
