Carry-out pizza is one of the best inventions yet. The wheel is important, but does it give you the warm fuzzy feeling of eating a pie with fresh mozzarella and marinara sauce after a long day of work? Nope. If you want to master your pizza game, you’ll need to step up your approach. Below, Emilio’s of Morris Park in the Bronx shares three pizza hacks that’ll take you to the next level.

Keep Your Pizza Warm

When you order pizza for pick-up, don’t let that pie grow cold on the way home. You don’t need to crank up the heat in your car until you’re sweating. Instead, turn on the seat warmer and strap the pizza in on the passenger side. When you get home, the crust will be warm and the toppings toasty, so you can dig right in. For extra points, prop up the pie so it’s level, and you won’t have to worry about the pizza sliding around inside the box.

Save a Burnt Mouth

carry-out-pizza-bronx-nyWho waits to eat pizza until it has cooled? Most people can’t help themselves and take a bite well before the cheese reaches a reasonable temperature. That can leave you with a burnt, swollen mouth. To salvage your taste buds, add some sugar to your tongue and rub it on the roof of your mouth. The sweetness will reduce the pain. Just make sure to wait until it’s cooled down before your next bite!

Make a Pizza Panini

While eating cold carry-out pizza the next day is totally acceptable, there is another great way to enjoy these leftovers; create a pizza sandwich! Add extra cheese to the top of one slice before adding another slice with the toppings face-down. For the best crispy flavor, use a panini press to compress the two layers together into hot, gooey goodness.
