Whether you are the lead singer of a band, a public speaker, or enjoy any other career that involves using wireless mics on a frequent basis, it is important to keep the mics clean for hygiene and sound-related reasons. These important pieces of audio equipment become clogged with saliva and makeup, which can cause lip and surrounding skin breakouts in addition to muffling your voice. They can even absorb smoke odors and subsequently become increasingly less pleasant to use. Avoid these issues by learning how to clean your wireless mics the right way.

How to Clean Your Wireless Mics in 3 Easy Steps

Remove & Scrub the Grille With a Toothbrush

Unscrew the grille, or the top piece you sing or speak into. You may have to gently rock the grille back and forth to help loosen it from the mic cartridge. Gently scrub the grille with a clean toothbrush to remove makeup, skin cells, and any other debris. Use a soft-bristled brush to avoid damaging the piece.

Clean the Grille & Foam Windscreen

Let the Pieces Air-Dry

Set the grille and foam windscreen in a safe area to air-dry overnight. If you need to use your mic immediately after cleaning it, dry it with a hair dryer set on the lowest heat setting and do not place the beauty tool too close to the piece, since it could potentially melt some of the components.
