3 Fun Snow-Sport Activities for Kids to Try, Greenwich, Connecticut

During the cold season, children can feel cooped up in the house, which is why winter sports for kids are such a welcome break. In addition to providing an outlet for your little one’s pent-up energy, outdoor activities also help them develop coordination and recreational skills they can use later. Here are three options you should try with your children.

Winter Snow Sports for Kids

1. Tubing

In addition to letting kids enjoy a fun ride, tubing also gives them the chance to hike back up hills, encouraging cardiovascular strength. If you try the activity with your children, have them wear helmets and don’t attempt hills where they could lose control of their gear.

2. Snowshoeing

Snowshoeing is affordable and easy to do anywhere, making it a perfect winter sport for kids. It offers your little ones the chance to hike during the winter months and take in the beauty of the snowy wonderland around them.

3. Cross-Country Skiing

sports for kidsCross-country skiing is a challenging cardiovascular activity that doesn’t involve steep hills. Because the ski boots are only mounted at the front of the foot, kids can push their legs and use their arms to propel them forward, which gets their heart rate up. More than just gliding over a fresh layer of snow, the activity builds hand and foot coordination, since participants must be vigilant about controlling their trajectory.

Help your young ones stay active and healthy this winter, so when summer rolls around, they’ll be in good shape for Corbin's Crusaders After School and Summer Day Camp.
