On Tuesday, November 29th from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., you’re invited to join Martin Brothers Wine & Spirits for a special interactive tasting and discussion about single malt scotch. The highly regarded Speyside whiskies from The Glenlivet® and Aberlour® distilleries will be featured.
A master of scotch, Dominic Venegas will guide you through the storied history, production, and subtleties of three unique single malt scotches, and explain how select cask maturation can produce results as famous as these brilliant drinks:
The Glenlivet Founder’s Reserve
Named after Glenlivet distillery founder, George Smith, this scotch came on the market in 2014 after two centuries in the making. George Smith began distilling in 1824 and set out to make the best scotch whisky in Scotland. This new expression is a nod to the traditional tastes representative of the distillery: slightly sweet and smooth. The newest invocation is distilled in the lantern-shaped copper pots designed by Smith himself and made with waters direct from Josie’s Well, a natural mountain spring infused with underground minerals that add to the subtle, delicate flavors of this scotch. Taste what The Glenlivet would’ve tasted like so many years ago.
The Glenlivet 15
This whisky’s flavor contains notes of sweet fruit and spice through a technique perfected by the distillery, known as selective maturation. As the spirit matures, a portion is added to virgin French Limousin oak casks, known for use in maturing fine French wines and cognacs. The French Limousin adds a hint of spice that is balanced by sweetness; highlights include orange peel and candied grapefruit, topped off with almonds and hazelnut.
This whisky gets its name from the origin of its source, a Gaelic mountain stream prized for its crystalline properties. Flowing over pink granite to form exquisitely pure pools below the waterfall, this spring is the base of Aberlour’s legendary taste. To achieve the multilayered flavor that Aberlour is known for, casks are hand-picked, each steeped in bourbon or sherry. Aberlour’s Master Distillers artfully build their notable scotch through a process that takes several years, first distilling in one cask, then marrying it into another.
Taste for yourself the difference a legendary distillery can make. You won’t want to miss this exclusive evening! Space is limited, and RSVP is required: to reserve your spot, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
