When you’ve got a project, you might be ready to head off to the lumber store, purchase some great supplies, and start right away. Unfortunately, if you are short on cash, you might not be able to afford pricey lumber. However, that doesn’t mean you can’t bring your vision to life. Here are three incredible furniture pieces you can make with wood pallets.

3 Furniture Pieces You Can Make Without Lots of Lumber

1. A Gorgeous Sofa

Forget about spending thousands of dollars on a new couch. With a few wood pallets and some inexpensive cushions, you can create a custom sofa your entire family will enjoy. To make your wood sofa, stack flat pallets until the seat is the desired height, and then screw them together with wood screws. To create a back, turn additional pallets onto their sides and attach them the same way. Finish the sofa with pre-made seat cushions, and, for added charm, cover the front with colorful reclaimed boards.

2. Rustic Patio Furniture

lumberSimple wood pallets can also be used to create rustic patio furniture. By stacking two pallets horizontally and backing the stack with a single vertical pallet, you can create a simple chair shape that works well for outdoor lounging. When you create your patio furniture, make sure to use rust-free screws and water-resistant paint.

3. A Reclaimed-Wood Headboard

Make your master bedroom truly unique by creating a reclaimed wood headboard with pallets. After removing the front wood from two pallets, screw them together to make a long panel. Cut the removed wood at a 45-degree angle on the ends, and then lay it on the panel in a chevron pattern. When the wood is where you want it, use a brad nailer to attach the pieces. Hang the headboard on the wall behind your bed for a polished look.
