There are a lot of supposed locksmiths popping up on the internet and even in the telephone books, claiming to be legitimate businesses.  Most of them have catchy names that include 247, 24/7 or something of that nature. Their phone numbers are 1-800 … or someone’s cell phone. When you call after being locked out, they claim an extraordinarily low service call ($19.00-$25.00) as the bait and when they arrive, their script switches to you having something “High Security” or they quote you an outrageous labor rate and then become very demanding, even belligerent, about paying them if you decide that you don’t wish to us their services.  AHHH, the classic “Bait and Switch”.  Most of these companies subcontract their workers and most times they will show up in an unmarked personal vehicle.  BEWARE.  If you ask the locksmith if they are local, they will answer “yes”.  If you ask them where their shop or office is, they won’t be able to tell you because they don’t have one.

We have been in the locksmith business since 1933. We are proudly 4 generations deep into the security field for three reasons: We are honest with our customers, we do quality work with a guarantee and we charge a reasonable rate for the service we provide.

When looking for a service company, not just a locksmith, but ANY service company, when you make the call to them, ask them where they are located and how long they have been there. Also, ask for an exact estimate for the service you describe.  If the person on the phone says something like our service call is $25.00 and then the tech will let you know once he/she gets there—HANG UP. These companies are “bottom feeders” and the public is their bait. We have literally hundreds of stories about these shysters.

Check the BBB and Angie’s List for “A” rated companies.  Any legitimate company should be able to give you a price on the phone. Our technicians are instructed to review the service call ticket which includes the price quoted on the phone. When they arrive, they review the service request with the customer and if there is a discrepancy with they work or the quote, they requote the job and if the customer isn’t comfortable with the revision, the technician will politely explain the situation and will leave with no hard feelings. That’s where the honesty comes in, before the job, not after.  We treat every customer with equal importance, from the first-time customer to one of the many Fortune 500 companies that we serve would rather treat people honestly and conduct ourselves with integrity, than knowingly try the old bait and switch technique just to make the quick buck.
