Your toilet never overflows at a convenient time. Additionally, the spilling water can cause damage in certain areas of your home. While it’s definitely a stressful situation, the most important thing to do is remain calm. For more than 20 years, Fast Rooter Plumbing LLC has helped Oahu residents with a variety of plumbing needs, such as clogged drains, pipe leaks, and toilet repair. Fixing an overflowing toilet is really quite simple. Just don’t let your stress rise as quickly as the water.

Take a look at the following tips from Fast Rooter Plumbing for help fixing your overflowing toilet:

  • Turn Off the Water: Most toilets have a water valve at the bottom to the left or right. As soon as the water starts rising, locate the valve and turn it counterclockwise. This will immediately stop the water from rising and allow you to address the root of the problem. If your toilet has no valve, open the tank and lift the float ball high enough to stop the water from running.
  • Get Rid of Excess Water: Use a towel to soak up any water that may have spilled onto the floor. Before you try to unclog the toilet, use a bucket or a cup to remove water near the brim. Place it in a separate bucket until the clog is fixed, then flush it back down the toilet for a safe removal.
  • Grab Your Plunger: A clog is the most common cause for an overflowing toilet. Place the plunger cup entirely over the toilet bowl’s hole and slowly apply downward pressure while gradually increasing speed.

If using a plunger does not rectify the problem, you may need to contact a plumber to examine all the pipes in your home. Visit Fast Rooter Plumbing LLC online or call (808) 734-4938 to schedule an appointment.
